The first brew was put on sale in 2000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span>The Brasserie Ellezelloise was founded by Philippe G\u00e9rard in 1993 and produces the Quintine and Hercule product range. The brewhouse here is capable of producing two to three brews of 1,500 litres per day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span>Created in 2006 from the merger between the Brasserie des G\u00e9ants and the Brasserie Ellezelloise, the Brasserie des L\u00e9gendes was inspired by the rich folklore of our region: the Ducasse d\u2019Ath parade with its procession of giant puppets and the Witches\u2019 Sabbath festival in Ellezelles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span>Then in 2019, the Brasserie des L\u00e9gendes took over the activities of the Berc\u00e9e distillery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0px; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-feature-settings: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: Times; color: rgb(45, 42, 42); -webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(45, 42, 42); letter-spacing: normal;\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"font-kerning: none;\">[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=&#8221;stretch_row&#8221; full_height=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1566287573710{margin-top: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 35px !important;background-image: url(https:\/\/www.brasseriedeslegendes.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/bdl-login.jpg?id=35) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1565091495638{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-right: 25px !important;padding-left: 25px !important;background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.95) !important;*background-color: rgb(255,255,255) !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #85714d;\"><b>An ancient history and modern techniques<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>1161:<\/strong> The oldest reference to the Castel d\u2019Irchonwelz (on the anchor bolt in the facade), an ancient military fortress built by the de Trazegnies family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>In the 20th century:<\/strong> The castle was used for agricultural purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>1971:<\/strong> Given \u201cProtected Heritage\u201d status by the French Community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>1997:<\/strong> The castle was purchased by Pierre and Vinciane Delcoigne in order to develop their plan for a craft brewery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>1998 to 2000:<\/strong> Restoration of the buildings and construction of the brewery. Launch of the first beer, Gouyasse. At that time the company was called the Brasserie des G\u00e9ants, a reference to the Ducasse d\u2019Ath procession and local folklore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2005:<\/strong> The Beauregard family farm was acquired to grow barley. Such control over the entire production chain is unique in Belgium: our beer comes directly from the earth to your glass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2006:<\/strong> Following the merger with the Brasserie Ellezelloise, the Brasserie des L\u00e9gendes was born. Its name is a tribute to the folklore of the region: the Ducasse d\u2019Ath procession (recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage) and the Witches\u2019 Sabbath festival in Ellezelles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2011:<\/strong> Opening of the \u201cAu Chaudron des L\u00e9gendes\u201d pub in a building adjoining the Ellezelles site. Here you can enjoy regional food accompanied by our beers, in an authentic and friendly atmosphere, enlivened by a touch of modernity and plenty of passion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2016:<\/strong> Construction of a new building for bottling, labelling and storage. The beers brewed at the Castel d\u2019Irchonwelz are transferred here through a beer pipeline, and the beers from Ellezelles are transported in a tanker truck emblazoned with the image of the brewery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2017:<\/strong> Opening of a chocolaterie as a partnership between C\u00e9dric De Taeye and Pierre Delcoigne. This chocolaterie has found a home in the former warm rooms of the Ellezelles brewery, and produces its own chocolate directly from cocoa beans, with the same philosophy as the brewery growing its own barley.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2018:<\/strong> Construction of a new brewhouse in the castle.
